EXAMPLE OF A TREATMENT MAKE-UP
BRIEF:
To create 5 hair and make-up looks inspired by Memento Mori. Colour palette should consist of pale muted colours, and incorporate more raspberry/burgandy tones as the shoot progresses. I was told that the model has lilac, short hair and that a couple of the shots will include flower garlands in the hair and a wide headband.

EVALUATION:

From this treatment it is clear that the hair should be styled in soft curls in a loose updo accompanied by crystal and diamond hair accessories. The make-up should combine browns, gold, pink and red colours.

Here I have pinned various images to inform the hair and make-up for this treatment. Although the make-up consists of the incorrect colour theme, inspiration can be taken from the shape and placement of product.
If I were to complete this treatment make-up I would focus mainly on the eyes. Taking inspiration from the bird influences I will use browns and gold to create a feather-like shape around the eyes. I would also use eye products with a shimmer finish to exude the reflective qualities of the look. To acompany this I would use a soft pink of the cheeks and a bold red lip.
For the hair, I would loosely curl it with heated rollers and hairspray to hold. I would then style it up in a loose and messy bun and incorporate plaits and twists to create added texture. This will also reflect a type of bird's nest hairstyle which will accurately reflect the brief.

HAIR INSPIRATION:
For the first shots I will use minimal make-up and focus on creating a dewy finish to the skin. I will then incorporate white eyeliner flicks whislst keeping the complexion fairly neutral. As the shoot progresses, I will add muted pinks around the eyes, a muted burgandy on the lips and contouring. The final look will involve paleing down the model and adding an intense pink around the eyes, a bolder burgandy lip and heavier contouring.
The beginning hairstyles will incorporate soft curls in a loose updo. This will progress into a harsh centre parting gelled into a low ponytail.

WHAT WENT WELL AND HOW DID I ACHIEVE THIS?
-
It was a good decision to start with the more basic looks as I could add more make-up on top as the shoot progressed. This prevented wasting time removing the make-up inbetween looks which would also irritate the models skin. Starting with the loose up do also made things easier because if I started with the centre parting hairstyle I would need to wash the hair half way through shooting which would again waste time.
-
The soft curls and loose up do was effective as it softenend the models features and complimented the elegant garments.
-
The centre parting was perfectly straight down the centre of the head. I achieved this by using the end of a tail comb - as a result it photographed well on shoot and did not require touching up.
-
I successfully achieved a fresh and dewy look on the models skin - this was created by selected suitable products, such as a light coverage foundation and highlighting products such as, the Illamasqua illuminator in 'Verve'.
-
I was also happy with the stained lip effect which I achieved by patting on lipstick in the centre on the models lips using 'Good girl gone Bad' by MAC.
-
Similarly, I was happy that I applied a good amount of bronzer for contouring. I also also the product was placed effectively and the cool undertone complemented the muted and soft colour palette of the make-up which I achieved by using NARS bronzer in 'Laguna'.
WHAT DIDN'T GO WELL AND HOW DID I OVERCOME THIS/WHAT DO I NEED TO CONSIDER FOR NEXT TIME?
-
If I were to do this again, I would of applied more hairspray and gel to the scraped back hairstyle because from some angles the hair does not appear completely flat, therefore it creates an irregular shape of the models head. I would have also pinned the excess hair in the ponytail out of sight as I feel it distracts attention in some shots.
-
I should of added white in the waterline of my models eye when creating the white eye liner flick to make the eyes appear less harsh and more blended on the bottom lashes.
-
In some shots, the ear appears paler than the models complexion. To correct this, I should of applied a complementary foundation lightly over the ear so that it blends better into the make-up so that it does not stand out as much.
-
In the final shot, it would have looked more effective to pale down the whole of the models body so that the face does not stand out as looking so obviously pale.
